IS HERBAL MEDICINE OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED?

In India, Ayurveda and Unani Tibb practitioners who mostly use the herbals, are recognized by competent authorities of the Government. They practise their profession on their own or in the Government dispensaries or hospitals.
In England, although practitioners are not incorporated in the National Health Service, medical herbalists have long had legal protection and under the Medicines Act of 1968, the profession was granted exemption and the right to practice. The National Institute dates from 1864 and has been granted its own coat of arms.
